Fire Alarm Servicing
As an essential part of your Fire Protection Strategy/ Fire Alarm Maintenance, Contracts need to be in written form and updated at least annually. Also your Automatic Fire Detection System, Emergency Lighting and Fire Extinguishers need to be checked by a ‘competent’ person periodically to ensure that it is safeguarded and it is able to provide an alarm if required.
This process involves the following stages:
Have a written evacuation plan, communicate it with your employees and practice it.
Test the system regularly
Have trained ‘Fire Wardens’ to help where necessary.
Report faults to your ‘fire emergency systems’ immediately and log the details. |
For people on site with disabilities, you may need to upgrade an existing system through the addition of strobe lighting for the ‘hearing impaired’, you may need to add some ‘induction loop’ technology to the building for employees or visitors.
The concept behind all of these procedures is to safeguard ‘life’ and prevent injury to persons on or within the premises for which you are responsible for, and to achieve this they need to be alerted to an emergency situation and be provided with a means to escape.
